Our commitment to the future – climate neutral by 2040
With sustainability at the core of everything we do, our primary goal is to become climate neutral by 2040 – ten years ahead of the Paris Agreement. To get there, we are focusing on reducing our climate impact, strengthening sustainability throughout our supply chain, and expanding our circular offering.

We are currently mapping our direct and indirect climate impact, clarifying our chemical requirements, and building structures for greater transparency – including Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) and Digital Product Passports. Going forward we are focusing on these three areas:

Climate impact
Our long-term ambition is to achieve climate neutrality by 2040. We are working to reduce the climate impact of our products throughout their entire lifecycle. An important step in this process is introducing EPDs across our entire product range by 2026, helping both us and our customers make better-informed choices. Another key sustainability area is chemical use – both for its environmental and health implications. We are currently developing clearer internal and supplier-facing requirements, alongside enhanced sustainability trainings both internally and externally.
Sustainable supply chains
We view sustainability as a shared responsibility – from raw materials to finished product. In line with upcoming EU directives such as the CSRD (Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive) and DPP (Digital Product Passport), we are reviewing the sustainability performance of our supply chains. The implementation of digital product passports will require more detailed product data, and full supplier engagement is needed in order to deliver more detailed information. These digital passports will enable enhanced traceability and transparency and become a powerful tool for circular furniture management over time. In addition, we maintain an ongoing dialogue with our suppliers to evaluate new and more environmentally friendly materials.

Circularity
Circularity is a cornerstone of EFG’s design philosophy. All new products are manufactured according to our layer-by-layer design principle, which ensures them to be separated and updated over time. We are also continuously evolving our existing product range to meet new circular demands, prioritising clean materials and exploring new material solutions.
For a more sustainable furniture industry
Through clear goals, smart tools and a strong commitment, we aim to be climate neutral by 2040. It’s an ambitious target, but one we believe is essential in creating a sustainable future. And we hope our work will inspire others in the furniture industry to follow suit.
